Does a customer's credit card charge-off, after 7 years get removed automatically from their credit report?

A charge-off from a credit card account stays on a credit report for 7 years. Does the charge-off get removed from a person's credit report automatically (just like a bankruptcy does after 10 years) by the credit bureau OR does the customer have to contact the credit card company to have the charge-off removed from their credit report?
